Finds: 1959 FATE

I have three file boxes full of FATE magazines, as well as other issues in some magazine binders. I found this the other day while organizing the book room.

FATE magazine May 1959

It's in fair condition; spine is tattered, no back cover.

I love this ad for "Advice and Counseling by Mail or Phone" in the issue.

Dr. Morton Jacobs, a man of many skills:
Yoga, Psychic, Medium, Spiritualism,Telepathy, Astrology, Palmistry, Numberology, Orgone Therapy, Aura Analysis ...

And, of course:

Health Secrets of the Interplanetary and Flying Saucer People.

Not to mention Voodoo, Witchcraft, the Bible and Healing Secrets of Jesus.

Organizing the Room of Doom

Bigfoot books . . .

For some time now, have been calling the "study" the Room of Doom -- such a mess! An unholy, awful, mess. I would literally go into a spin of hysteria when entering that room and trying to deal with the mess.

I realize, too, that I need to rename that room and no longer encourage the negative energy of Room of Doom, and give it a more positive name to reflect the changes.

A few UFO books. . . and yes, I'm a nerd, official X Files mug and all

Somehow, finally, I had some kind of cosmic breakthrough and have been able to work in that room, enjoy it even! So I've been rearranging books, giving books away, donating books, selling books, and discovering that yes, I have a hell of a lot of UFO and paranormal, Fortean, anomalous type books.

A few more UFO books . . .

Then I messed up my knee and leg and had to take off for a couple of days. And I was looking forward to the next project: organizing my "haunted locations" shelf.

File holders full of Fates, UFO Magazine, Strange, Fortean Times and many more. Plus a free alien water bottle straight from Area 51/Exterrestrial Highway in Nevada, courtesy of a good and thoughtful friend.

Shaver and Hoagland: Separated at Birth?

Were Richard Sharpe Shaver, and Richard C. Hoagland, separated at birth?

Shaver was the author of the "Shaver Mysteries," which FATE magazine publisher Ray Palmer believed were true, and gave them publicity in FATE. Briefly, Shaver's story was that there was a race of beings living inside the earth. "Deros" and "Teros," beings that kidnapped humans and did unspeakable things to them beneath the earth. Shaver had been in communcation with these beings; indeed, he was held prisoner by them.

Hoagland of course works tirelessly to bring news of "The Face" on Mars.

Don't misunderstand; I'm not suggesting one, or both, are hoaxers. Maybe one is, the other isn't. Or both are. Or both aren't. My point, if I have one, is just an idle observation on the physical similarities.
