Nimoy on Fringe

My favorite television show FRINGE (besides the BBC's Torchwood, if that ever comes back as promised) will have a new character: William Bell, played by Leonard Nimoy. Nimoy's character will be introduced this season, then FRiNGE will return in the fall, along with Nimoy. Pretty cool!

Sunday Orb

Not much this Fall Sunday....

New posts over at Women Of Esoterica.

I like the new show My Own Worst Enemy. Better than I thought it would be. I like Eleventh Hour as well, but it isn't as good I had thought it would be. So there you go. Just about all of my favorite shows are laden with psy-op spook stuff, conspiracy, mystery, mysticism, metaphysics, monsters and aliens. Torchwood, UFO Hunters, Monster Quest, Fringe, Numb3rs, 24, My Own Worst Enemy, Eleventh Hour, Pushing Daisies, Eureka. A theme going on here I see, wonder how that is?

New post on Mothman Flutterings, which is really just a link to an article. I've started The Silver Bridge, a book I've been wanting for years. Thanks to Mothman's Photographer author Andrew Colvin, we all have the opportunity to get this book at an affordable price, since he's reprinted it. Check it out on amazon.com, etc. I can see that I'll be writing a lot about it when I'm finished. Already I'm hooked. And speaking of Mothy things, I have an article in Darklore III about Mothman -- it's not out yet but be looking out for it. You can read about that as it comes, and more, on The Daily Grail .

Predictions of UFO appearances and disclosures, and I just wasn't that excited. Interested, of course; I'm a chronically curious Fortean, but just not excited. I am however intrigued by the opera like goings on about Ian Brockwell's research into the UFO photographed during a thunderstorm. I keep meaning to go further with that, maybe I will. I wonder about the overall bizarreness of photographing aliens inside a UFO during a thunderstorm, MUFON's involvement, and so much more.

Oh, Right, It's Sunday

Sunday again. Cooler weather and rainy but still it's unseasonably warm for October in Western Oregon. Trees are just now beginning to turn.

ALIENS INSIDE UFO!
Well, what do we think of this story? UFOs photographed in thunderstorm reveals alien life! Red flags go up at the business/search engine tie-in on writer Ian Brokwell's part, plus the "aliens" inside the UFOs look very cartoon like. Then there's the copyright/no reproduction etc. notices plastered everywhere, and the costume advertising. On the other hand, the witness-photographer Christine Dickey is a field investigator for MUFON, has had her own past encounters, and an interesting history of hearing/feeling the urge to go out and look and there you go! UFOs. I've had that myself. We're also in a UFO flap and have been for awhile.

The response to this seems to be eerily quiet.

Hoax
or no, doesn't matter. Hoaxes and distractions like this (assuming it is) are a part of Fortean and UFO events; just as much a part as the UFO itself. You can't have one without the other. Or, MILAB, Project Blue Beam type explanations could be the answer.

More on this later.

HELICOPTERS
A very interesting piece from Katharina Wilson of Alien Jigsaw on abductee Linda Murphy and her encounter with unmarked helicopter. One thing I liked about the story was the investigation piece. There's more on Murphy's experiences on the Alien Jigsaw site as well.

ESOTERIC TELEVISION
It stinks the Torchwood people think it's dandy to make five episodes, to air in one week, for the third season. Stinks, I tell you! At least there'll be a third season, and the latest seems to be that the Captain Jack Harkness character will be returning.

Fringe is still good. Last episode had the greatest MIB character ever. Excellent.

Looking forward to Eleventh Hour, and My Own Worst Enemy with Christian Slater.

My Trickster's Realm column for Binnall of America is about two shows: Psych, and The Mentalist. And Lesley, for her Gray Matters column, wrote this week about Fringe. (she likes it too!)

The season ending for Eureka has Sheriff Carter fired by the military. Not clear on the legalities of military, corporations, and a city all being in bed together, but it's TV. Good show -- we all know Sheriff Carter will still be around, and most likely get his job back; the question is, how will it play out?

VINTAGE STUFF

On Vintage U.F.O. I have some images of album covers with an outer space theme.

UFO MAGAZINE
My article in this issue of UFO Magazine is about beeping again. It just came out that way; interesting how I've written so much about beeping sounds in relation to UFO and paranormal events. And every time I write an article about beeping, either creatures, such as Bigfoot, or beeping as in your head, I get a lot of emails from people with similar experiences.

SHOULD, BUT NOT GOING TO
There's more, much more, but I'm tired. Time for a nap. The aliens can just wait.

SUNDAY ORB

Not much going on. Sick with Fall crud, low energy, but in spite of that I like the Fall and the crisp air, I've been putting up my Fall season lights, my favorite string being an icicle style string with lights that fade from purple to orange and back. Very nice. And if I hear "Harvest Fest" one more time I'll puke. So we don't offend the Christians or give off negative vibes to the little ones, we don't dare put up witches and say the dreaded word Halloween; we say "Harvest Fest."

Speaking of Halloween: supposedly the building I work in is haunted. I've personally never felt that, but others have. I'll have to pick the brains of someone who's experienced those things and see if I pick up anything. The playground, in one area seems spooky to me, maybe it's just the energy of the space itself. There was a building I worked in that I, and others, thought was haunted; I felt and saw a lot of odd things. Interesting how I'm usually sensitive to those things but every now and then I just don't pick up on it; like my friends home (they've since moved) many others saw and felt things, but me, nothing.

New posts at Vintage U.F.O., UFO Mary, James Rich Studio, Women Of Esoterica, and tëme (an animal blog) and Pulp Jello.

Why did they put The Mentalist against Fringe? And when is Torchwood coming back? I ask you.

Mac Tonnies has a new blog; it's a great idea. Things That Look Like Flying Saucers. I love it. Here's a flying saucer I found in my living room:

Lots of little synchronicities in my life lately. Again lately that is. I notice when you put out the intent, the synchroniciites appear. I've often wondered why they are so trivial much of the time, and many a skeptoid dismisses them for that very reason. But isn't it enough they're there in the first place? Simple nudges from the universe or matrix or whatever; that's all it takes.

Well, while nothing much going on here, there's always things going on in the UFO, Fortean realm on the internet, as a check of the usual will reveal. The Anomalist and other blogs, way too many to mention here, but check out my links lists and do your own searching; you'll find more than enough to keep you busy.

And while there may not be anything I have to say right now that's stunning or interesting or Big Time UFO News, that doesn't mean, as a few others -- and we do know who they are, right class? --- insist, that UFOs are dead, gone, boring, useless, pointless, etc. Far from it!

Around the Orb

Well, I like the new show The Fringe. I watched it again tonight with Jim, he liked it as well. I could have sworn there were some edited scenes; some bits that were not in the first showing, different cuts, etc. Nothing that affects the story line, very minor stuff. Either that or my brain is slipping. Speaking of slipping brains, the line is "Excellent! Let's make some LSD" (see post below.) Other shows I'm looking forward to: 24, Eleventh Hour, the one starring Christian Slater who has two minds, or two personalities, or something (Google wasn't much help) Torchwood,Eureka, Monster Quest, UFO Hunters, and I hate to admit it, Paranormal State -- I see a theme here.

Look for my new Trickster's Realm on Binnall of America sometime tomorrow. The article is about energy, disclosure and aliens and I ask: what connection?

Richard M. Dolan has a fascinating review of The High Strangeness of Dimensions, Densities, and the Process of Alien Abduction by Laura Knight-Jadczyk,on UFO Digest, except, page 3 seems to be missing. Every time I click on it it takes me back to page 2. Anyone out there experience this? This is a book I must read, because of what Dolan has to say. He's one of the few researchers out there that I truly respect. Friedman is another, and of course there are others. I have a few qualms about Knight-Jadczyk in a political context, but that's another issue entirely, and because of Dolan's insights, I'm putting those aside and looking forward to reading her book.

Blogger has a new gadget; you can see who's "following" you, so of course I put that up on some of my blogs. I'll get around to having it up on all of them soon.

Happy Kudos to me; Vintage U.F.O. made it to the top 100 most interesting history blogs, of all things, and my blog Mothman Flutterings was recently a Red Orbit hot blog of the day.

And, I have a new blog. I couldn't help it, blame Sarah Palin, not me. Her blood lust and her perception of animals, which is dismal to say the least, inspired me. So visit the blog: tëme (an animal blog)
http://temeanimal.blogspot.com/

As always, there is so much interesting stuff out there about UFOs and the esoteric world it's impossible to keep up with them all or comment on them. But visit the links on my blogs, and that'll take you to other places, and then other places . . .

Despite what some stuffed UFO shirts think, it is all good, even the bad.

Late Sunday-Monday Orb

I've been without internet access for the past day or so, things are back to normal now.

A new piece at Women Of Esoterica by Danille Lee.

Lesley has a new Gray Matters up at Binnall of America.

Richelle and I will both have new pieces up at BOA as well this week; my Trickster's Realm on Monday (Labor Day) and Richelle's that Tuesday, I believe. She has a new column up right now.

By the way, it does seem like the world is in a UFO flap, doesn't it? Just FYI and generally speaking. . . been that way for awhile now, and doesn't seem to be slowing down.

Jim has new categories on the Yessy site, and offers prints of his work ranging from $20.00 for a color image on matte photo paper, to approximately $400.00 for a canvass print.

I've been having fun with widgets and made one for UFO Mary, and Vintage U.F.O., and Jim's blog.

Ranting about the air quality in Eugene. I know, I know, it may not be anything like Los Angeles, (although when I was down there last summer, it was much nicer than the air here; I did stay on the coast -Long Beach-Marina area, still, it was better air there than on field burning days and allergy laden days up here) and you can read those posts on my blog Trickster Northwest.

WHEN is Torchwood coming back? Still no news.

If you've noticed the bubble widget here it's a mistake; there's some glitch and I can't get blogger to take it off. It's an addicting game though!

I thought this was Fortean, for some reason: cows and magnetic north. I'll have to look out for that next time I take a drive.

The New X-Files Movie, Torchwood

Of course I'll go see it! But naturally! I think the title is just awful: "I Want To Believe" Really?

I like Amanda Peet and Bill Connolly, who are also in the movie. All the usual hype and hush about the movie; the plot line, Mulder and Scully's "romance" (er, didn't they have a baby -- kind of puts the need for adolescent questions about their relationship to rest, doesn't it?) but I don't care about any of it. It's a new X-Files movie! What more is there?

Well, there's Torchwood. A great show; was so sorry to see season two end so quickly. (And so damn sadly.) Dear husband "George" says it's better than X-Files, but for myself, it's not "better" it's not a question of "better." Torchwood is the X-Files of its time, I suppose. Hipper, certainly more sexually open. Torchwood also deals a lot more with human emotions and pathos, etc. than X-Files did. You either like that a lot (I do) or you don't. Depends on one's temperament. Both have sexy main characters, which helps quite nicely.

I'm glad Torchwood has come along and filled the void X-Files left.

Wales Seeing More UFOs?

And is it because of Torchwood?

Two things I need to remind myself of: there is no X-Files, not really, and David Duchovny is an actor, not Spooky Mulder. Not really. There is no Torchwood, not really, and there is no such person as handsome sexy Captain Jack in his black trenchcoat. It’s all pretend. Pretend. TV. These are two of my all time favorite TV shows; fictional shows.

So, this article asks if the popularity of Torchwood isn’t responsible for people seein more UFOs lately:
“Torchwood could well have brought an increase in the number of people looking at the skies rather than their feet when they are coming out of the pub.”

says Dr David Clarke, who wrote Flying Saucerers, A Social History of UFOlogy. I haven’t read the book, and don’t know the slant, but from his comment it seems like he’s being fair. (He also acknowledges Wales is a UFO hot spot.) If you look UP, you’ll see things. I know that, Alfred Lehmberg knows that (see his current article in UFO Magazine) Lesley knows that; all kinds of people know that. Try it.

I do take exception to Dr. Clarke’s opinion about the government’s innocence in such things:
He warned against conspiracy theories that accused the government of covering up alien landings, adding: “The idea that the government has a Men in Black department and they send out Captain Jack or whoever... it doesn’t happen.”

Okay, so maybe there isn’t a Captain Jack in a trenchcoat being all sexy assertive and commanding (and yet oh so vulnerable, the poor immortal dear) and jumping in and out of black SUVs, but come on, to suggest the government (theirs, ours, . . .) is content to let it all go by is naive.

X-Files, while fictional, did a lot to nudge us towards seeking out these areas. Torchwood seems to be doing the same. Shows like this are popular for a reason, and there are all kinds of people with all kinds of theoires on why this is so. Briefly, the theories range from "people are lonely geeks who need to fill a void with something magical" to "people are paranoid due to our ever increasing technological, post WWII world" to "Because they're here, damnit! Haven't you been looking up? And around?! Haven't you been looking?!" I go for that last one.
