New Blogger Templates!

Yea, Blogger has new templates! Thanks to Lesley at The Debris Field  for the info, I had ignored the blogger item at the bottom of my dashboard that tells about it. I'm not sure if I'll play around with the templates here and on Octopus Confessional, I finally got them to where I like it. Oh, who knows, I probably will. But I did change the look at Pulp Jello. And I'm still not satisfied with Women of Estoerica's look, so who knows. Have fun!

I almost used that same template you have at pulp jello for the girlie blog, but went with the flowers instead.

What happened to the UFOMystic website? Anyone know?

UfoMystic is changing servers and hopefully Craig will finish it up this weekend. The other server suspended us because we were using too much system resources or something like that.

OH Please - my message to the blogosphere - Use black text on a WHITE background (or, a very light background).

And (again please) use serif text!

Sorry - I was an art director for too long...

Well Mike, I'm no art director, but as an industrial designer I know a thing or two about ergonomics.

You'd be surprised how many folks prefer white text on a black background (easier on the old peepers, of course the effect is ruined if the text is in bold).

He, I still remember all the rage when Greg Taylor went out to change the format of The Daily Grail; many of the oldest members were almost ready to fire their torches and pursue him; so old Greg had to make a retro-format of white text on black screen just for them ;)

The New York TImes does NOT print their newspaper with white ink on black paper (and their web-site is the same)

People may "like" white letters on a black background, but it is easily testable (and these tests are real) and people retain more info if it's black letters on white background, 11 point text, and serif type face.

Just like the New York TImes!

Sorry Regan - I hy-jacked your comments...

Yes, but last time I checked, the paper they use does not glow like a computer monitor ;)

Or maybe I'm just justifying my own preferences. I prefer to work on AutoCAD using the old-style black screen; it's easier to discern the finer lines that way.

I don't know what others find most readable, but bright white backgrounds on a computer or the shiny paper magazines give me a headache and cause my eyes to hurt if I have to see them for very long. Off white is OK. I also read somewhere that dark backgrounds are energy savers.

They were, back with the old computer monitors that used to take so much space in our desks. I think it doesn't apply anymore with the newer LCD flat ones.

Yeah, I'm with you. White backgrounds tire me after a few hours —of course, that's a good sign to get up your butt and give your mind a rest, so ;)
