UFO Magazine - UFO Magazine Blog - The Echo Flight ICBM Incident: Retired USAF Officer Confirms Receiving A UFO Report Just as the Missiles Failed

Is it just me, or is there something patently desperate about these recent
assertions of Hastings', given that nearly a year ago Walt Figel started releasing
numerous statements regarding not only the inability of Robert Hastings to
properly analyze the events that were described to him, but his basic dishonesty
revealed by taking Figel's statements out of context, distorting the claims that
he made, and inventing entirely specific facts that Walt Figel never communicated.
In one written statement authored by Figel, he wrote, "I have always maintained
that I do not nor have I ever believed that UFOs exist in any form at any place at
any time. I have never seen one or reported that I have seen one. I have always
maintained that they had nothing to do with the shutdown of Echo flight in
Montana."
Walt Figel also stated firmly that "Bob Salas was never associated with any
shutdown of any missiles at any time in any flight and you can take that to the
bank. Just think about this for a split second. He is a person wrapped up in UFOs
to the Nth degree. Yet he could not remember he was not at Echo. Then he thought
he was at November – wrong again. Then he thought he was at Oscar – wrong again."
Robert Hastings' reaction to that was simply to point at the testimony of Robert
Salas' commander at Oscar Flight, saying Col. Frederick Meiwald had confirmed
everything Salas had claimed, and that he himself had discussed the matter with
Meiwald and was satisfied that this was true. Well, this is what Hastings claims,
and, oddly enough, I have no reason at all to doubt him:
"Meiwald then elaborated and said that he couldn’t support everything Salas has
said about the incident because he had been resting/sleeping when the first
missile or two dropped offline -— which occurred moments after Salas received a
report from the Oscar Flight Security Controller about a UFO hovering over the
Launch Control Facility’s front gate.
"Although Salas had quickly told Meiwald about that telephone conversation,
Meiwald says that he can’t remember it." Would this represent to anybody else in the entire world a "confirmation" of Salas' claims?
When I contacted Meiwald, he agreed that he couldn't remember anything at
regarding a UFO involved in any missile failures incident, admitting as well that,
like Figel, he doesn't even believe in UFOs!
Robert Hastings spent nearly a full year telling the world that I was a cowardly
fool for not calling Walt Figel to "hear the truth", and when I finally got sick
enough of his pathetic whining and baiting, and did just that, he lost his
freaking mind because Figel is an honest and able man who told me exactly what happened, including how Salas and Hastings tried to get him to sign on to their screwball UFO hoax, but he refused to do anything more than tell the truth. And then Hastings and Salas published whatever the Hell they wanted to anyway, and when Figel pointed out to them the errors in their work, they failed to make any
corrections at all!
Robert Hastings and Robert Salas are frauds, and their continual attempts to make
their claims seem somehow worthy of the price they charge people to be exposed to
them is an obscene abortion of the truth, not a story in which human honesty
repudiates the myths that have been attributed to pirates and managed by bankers. The fact that Robert Hastings continues to release these slanderous, idiotic little essays that insist his life has some meaning, but only in a world in which Walt Figel never came forward to assert so plainly that these guys are lying is just a pathetic reflection of his own subserviece to a fable he sacrificed himself to decades ago, and has now discovered that he can't crawl out of it and still be he center of attention that motivated him in the first place.
For God's sake, Robert, get a doctor or get a life!
